Randwick was proclaimed a local government area on 22 February 1859. It was one of the first to be established in NSW after the City of Sydney. The boundaries have changed little since then. Randwick became a city in 1990.
Randwick City Council has a strong focus on the community. We provide a wide range of services in addition to our important core roles of planning, development assessment, roads, rates and rubbish.
We have three flourishing libraries, a range of quality community facilities and our open space is the envy of many other Sydney areas. Council's professional Lifeguards patrol Coogee, Clovelly and Maroubra Beaches in addition to volunteer Surf Life Savers.
